Mary Coetzee Foster Homes
The front of the Mary Coetzee Children's Home
The three Mary Coetzee Foster Homes fall under Child Welfare, an NPO which also relies on donations and hence often finds itself short of funds. Whenever the need has arisen the Siyakhulisa Abantwana Foundation has stepped in to help by supplementing the food and toiletry bills or the bill for important maintenance work that needs to be done on the three houses.
Each year, thanks to generous donations from our Siyakhulisa Friends, we have been able to give the children an unforgettable Christmas party where each child receives a gift as well as a complete set of new clothes and shoes.
The Siyakhulisa Working Committee deems this to be our first successful intervention and we shall continue to support and monitor these children indefinitely. However, at the same time, we have also moved on to our next project so that more needy children may receive the same assistance.
This is our first successful intervention and Siyakhulisa Trustee, Lynne Brown, continues to sit on the Board of Child Welfare to keep an eye on the welfare of these children.
Operation School Shoes – June 2008
The working committee of Siyakhulisa is continually on the lookout for instances such as these where we can be of assistance. In the meantime we continue to raise funds for our own Siyakhulisa Project so that more children needing a safe haven can be helped.rary.
